Pushover is a service that sends all kinds of push notifications to your devices. You configure it to talk to your apps and services and it will forward their notifications to your iPhone, Android device or desktop browser.
So what’s it for?
I primarily use it with the excellent Alfred app to send a snippet of text, link or other bit of info from my Mac to my phone. Need to check a new webpage on my phone? I just send the URL over from Alfred via Pushover.
I’ve also configured my Synology and some of its services to send me notifications.
The pricing model is pretty fair as well – you only pay for the client apps, the service itself is free.
Most people won’t need Pushover, but if this type of service solves a problem for you, Pushover is the one to go with.
